3 fall tree crafts for toddlers

- Fall tree pipette painting
1. Egg Carton Fall Tree Craft
What we need?
- Egg carton
- Scissors
- Brown paints
- Pompoms (yellow and orange color)
- Glue
- Cardstock paper
Cut out the egg cartons and color them Brown.
Place the egg cartons on the sheet to form the crown of the tree.
Next make an outline for the bark of the tree.
Finally paste the yellow and orange pompoms to form the leaves.
Ain’t it cute?
2. Fall Tree Science Experiment
What we need?
- Ziploc bag
- Fall tree print out
- Black marker pen
- Water in a large bucket /tub
Place the print out inside the ziploc bag and seal it.
Next Trace the outline of the tree with the marker pen from above the ziploc bag.
Don’t trace the leaves.
Fill the container/ bucket with water.
Submerge the ziploc bag fully in the water to see the magic? Wait Science!
Slowly dip your drawing into the water. Carefully, it must be perfectly vertical.
Now only thing you will notice is the tree without leaves.
The Science Behind
It’s because of the total internal reflection of light.
When the light passes from the aqueous medium to the gaseous one, it changes direction slightly, because the two media do not have the same density. This is called light refraction.
If you increase this angle beyond a critical value of 90°, the light does not come out of the water, it is called internal reflection. When you stand above your container of water, this is what happens.
The light is totally reflected when the angle is greater than the critical angle.
Basically when we are viewing from the top the light that reaches the paper gets totally reflected and doesn’t reach our eyes creating an illusion.
3. Fall tree pipette Painting
What we need?
- Pipettes/droppers
- Yellow red orange paints in dripping consistency.
- Cotton
- Hand cutout/ brown paper
- Glue
Cutout a Hand shape. And paste it on a paper.
Next paste the cotton to from the crown of the tree.
Allow your toddler to take paints in Pipettes and allow your toddler to create this beautiful fall tree craft.
